About me

My Blog

10 years ago I was so stuck. I was working around 10 years ago I was so stuck. I was working around the clock, not getting quality time with my daughter, and had just married the wrong person. I stopped allowing myself to even imagine the life I have now. The peace. The joy. The ability to devote time to my family. The friends. The memories being made.

I’m so grateful.

If you feel stuck too just know there can be joy and happiness. You deserve to not only dream but to live them.
It’s National Infertility Awareness Week and I a It’s National Infertility Awareness Week and I almost let the week go with me staying silent. A shift happened some time ago where I stopped sharing my story. I couldn’t tell if what I had to say was making any difference. I started sharing to help people dealing with fertility issues feel seen and understood but also to show people that looked like me that they weren’t alone.

Opening up about my infertility journey as a black woman has been empowering and sobering. Did you know that African American women are 1.5 times more likely to experience infertility compared to white women? Despite the statistics, the conversation surrounding infertility in minority communities remains largely overlooked. I hoped to change this and for a while it seemed the doors were opening and things were changing. I made friends, I booked major partnerships with organizations and brands spreading awareness. I felt like I was being seen and this was helping others in my community also be seen and heard.

It’s not just about my story; it’s about shedding light on the countless minorities silently battling this struggle with no support. Despite our voices growing louder, the change we desperately need remains elusive.

Brands and organizations that showed diversity 3 or 4 years ago have quietly shifted back to the same faces. Companies that seemed excited to “add diversity” to their marketing really just wanted one face to check a box. The infertility community largely remains separated with many feeling left out, unheard, and uncared for.

I don’t know what to do to fix this and maybe I never should have imagined that I could help move the needle. I’m just a woman with secondary infertility who needed help. A woman who was broken and jealous and sad. A woman who tried one more time with a mosaic embryo and somehow got my rainbow baby. I’m a woman who hoped her story would encourage and uplift.

I pray often that this community continues to push for inclusivity, representation, and support for all on this journey. Infertility is the disease that affects so many of us. Together, we need to continue breaking barriers and fighting for every member of this community.

First, the staff is top tier. From the moment we walked in to the moment they rolled us out and into our waiting car everyone was attentive and accommodating.

We decided to be surprised by the chef in a delicious omakase what was seriously too many courses to keep track of (we had to stop before even making it to the end). The fish arrives daily from all over the peninsula and the rest of the world. The flavors of the fish blended with the chef’s techniques had me so sad to not have eaten more the next day 😅
